We Are Carova
I am Nancy Cronce, founder of Carova Golden Retrievers. For 25 years, Carova has bred wonderful Golden Retrievers who can do a great many things.
Our puppies shine in conformation, obedience, and dock diving. Carova dogs have become therapy dogs, bringing joy to people in the community and helping children enjoy reading. Some have gone on to be support dogs and service dogs.
Each Golden is raised with love and becomes part of our family before joining yours. That dedication is why families return for their second and third canine family member.
Raising Puppies: Eight Weeks of Discovery
I turn our home into “puppyville.” Puppies are born and raised in our house, with close care, gentle handling, and new experiences as they grow.
Days 3–16 · A gentle start
Early Neurological Stimulation introduces brief, structured handling during the puppies’ earliest days.
Days 14–21 · A world opening up
As eyes open, hearing develops, and puppies start walking, we introduce individual attention and simple toys.
Days 21–28 · Sounds, play, and people
Puppies explore household sounds and play with one another. Visits begin when mom and babies are doing well.
Days 28–35 · Learning through play
Toys, new surfaces, and playful challenges help puppies investigate, balance, and develop coordination.
Weeks 5–8 · Preparing for home
Enrichment introduces smells, textures, and appropriate outdoor experiences. A separate potty area helps puppies begin good habits. Temperament observations and conversations with families help us find the right home for each puppy.
